Edo State indigenes in Diaspora have applauded Governor Godwin Obaseki on the progress of work on the 6000bpd Edo Modular Refinery, noting that the project will boost industrial growth in the state.
A cross-section of professionals in the oil and gas industry in the Diaspora, who spoke to journalists, noted that with the production slated to commence in August, the governor has kept to his promise to deliver the project in good time to engender socio-economic development in the state.
A graduate of IFP France, Osakpolor Eriyo, said the modular refinery project is a game changer in Nigeria, especially as it was delivered with the active participation of the Edo State Government.
According to him, “I am impressed with the way and manner the Governor drove the process for the realisation of the refinery project. It shows that there was indeed an unwavering commitment to harness the resources in the state for the benefit of the people. The governor deserves commendation.”
He noted that the project would have a ripple effect on the local economy as allied industries such as haulage and logistics, real estate, polyethylene, among others would spin-off from the activities of the refinery.
Asemota Orere, who is based in Ireland, noted that the project is a proof of the dexterity of the Obaseki-led administration in the state, noting that the much anticipated industrial growth expected in the state is finally taking shape.
