As part of commitment aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and inclusive growth, Edo State Government through its Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has partnered with Women Helping Women (WHW), an organization dedicated to the socio-economic upliftment of women and girls through vocational training and mentorship.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Bisi Idaomi Esq., while playing host to the founder of Women Helping Women, Prof. Elizabeth Pedro, in her office in Benin City, appreciated the Organization’s initiative of launching the Women Helping Women Vocational Hub in the State.
She commended Prof. Pedro’s visionary leadership and impactful initiative, highlighting the potential it holds for women and girls in the State.
Chief Idaomi reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for women to thrive, emphasizing that the partnership aligned perfectly with the Ministry’s vision of empowering women and promoting inclusive growth.
The Commissioner further explained that such initiatives are crucial for the economic development of the State, by equipping women with entrepreneurial and creative skills that can lead to sustainable livelihoods, while expressing confidence that the collaboration would yield positive outcomes, which would enable women and young girls reach their full potential.
In her remark, the founder of Women Helping Women, Prof. Elizabeth Pedro emphasized her belief in the transformative power of entrepreneurship and diversifying income streams among women and girls, harping on the immense value and potential that lies within every woman.
She further explained that Women Helping Women was designed to harness such potential by providing hope through comprehensive training and mentorship.
Prof. Pedro who recommended the use of the Book in vocational institutions across the State in order to amplify its impact and reach in fostering women’s empowerment, explained that the book was designed to empower women with entrepreneurship and skills development.
Highpoint of the engagement was the presentation of a copy of a book entitled, “60 Days Women Helping Women Transformation Roadmap” to the Commissioner by the founder of Women Helping Women.
