As part of efforts to boost Housing Development in Edo State and the realization of the Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, the State Government through the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Hon. Yakubu Musa, has announced the Ministry’s plans to collaborate with the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN).
Hon. Musa explained that the Governor prioritises the expansion of housing opportunities and has set aside 250 hectares of land for development, out of which some portions have been allocated to the Federal Government Housing Authority, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), amongst others.
The Commissioner noted that the State Government is open to partnerships with Real Estate developers while also developing its own estates for Civil and Public Servants. He added that the initiative was designed to increase access to affordable housing for Government employees and enhance the overall housing landscape in the State.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. (Mrs.) Joy Akhigbe, assured REDAN of the Ministry’s readiness to support its efforts. She emphasized that the Ministry’s core mandate included formulating enabling housing policies and providing guidance to real estate developers, as well as the general public.
In his remark, the Chairman of REDAN, Comrade Aruna Abubakari, congratulated Hon. Musa on his appointment, describing it as well deserved. He assured the Ministry of REDAN’s full cooperation in advancing the housing sector in Edo State. He concluded that the Association is committed to working closely with the State Government to promote growth and development in the housing sector.
