The Edo State Governor, His Excellency Governor Monday Okpebholo, has officially sworn in Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole as the Commissioner for Health. Dr. Oshiomhole, a seasoned public servant and son of former Edo State Governor and current Senator, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, brings a wealth of experience to the role.
Dr. Oshiomhole’s distinguished career includes serving as Minority Whip in the House of Representatives, Vice President of the African Bar Association for the West African Region, and a two-term member of the Edo State House of Assembly. His robust legislative and administrative background positions him as a pivotal figure in driving impactful health sector reforms in the state.
During the swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo charged Dr. Oshiomhole to prioritise the health and welfare of the Edo people, emphasising diligence, transparency, and a results-driven approach. The governor highlighted the urgent need to address pressing healthcare challenges, strengthen primary healthcare systems, and improve access to quality medical services.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Oshiomhole expressed profound gratitude to Governor Okpebholo for the trust reposed in him and pledged unwavering commitment to the task ahead. “I am deeply honoured to serve Edo State in this capacity and will leverage my experience to implement policies that advance the health and well-being of our people. I promise to remain loyal and dedicated to achieving the governor’s vision for a healthier Edo State,” he stated.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Denis Idahosa, and key government officials, signalling widespread support for the new Commissioner.
Dr. Oshiomhole’s appointment will usher in new strategies and reforms to revitalise Edo State’s healthcare.
