The expansion is to further the impact of my Agency so that our operations would be felt across the local government areas of the State

As part of its yearly activities, the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA) has held its end-of-year Thanksgiving, Award, and Parade Ceremony. The event took place at the Agency’s headquarters, situated at Sapele Road in Benin City, on January 2, 2023.

While speaking at the event, the Managing Director of the Agency, Mr. Dennis Oloriegbe, expressed immense gratitude to God for preserving the lives of workers in the agency as no lives were lost by the agency in the year 2022.

He further stated that plans were currently in place to broaden the scope of services rendered by the agency in 2023. According to Oloriegbe “ Plans are currently in place to widen the scope of our services this year, as there are plans to expand the zones to cover Ogida, Owan, Uromi, and other areas, so that the impact of the agency can be felt all over the state. Plans are already in place to recruit more officers, as the request has already been presented to His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki”. On the general performance of officers, Oloriegbe stated that his officers have been performing well and meeting expectations.

The event also saw award of excellence presented to some notable members of the society who have been supportive of the agency’s activities in various capacities. Some of the recipients of this award include Mr. Ayanbueze Ighodaro, CEO of Columbus Sales and Auto Services; Mr. Amanosi Dokpesi, Managing Director of Afemai Line and Mr. Ugochukwu Amafe. Another recipient of the award was Barrister Olayiwola Afolabi, who was also decorated as one of the newest mayors in EDSTMA.

Cash awards were presented to some officers of the agency who distinguished themselves in the course of carrying out their assignments by some of the distinguished guests at the occasion. Blessing Salami, one of the recipients expressed appreciation to Edo State Government and the Agency, for the award and recognition accorded her, while promising to continue her good work.

Highlight of the event was the unveiling of the EDSTMA Insight Magazine. The 7-page magazine consists of various activities of the agency, a security and safety awareness guide, and other useful information for both drivers and other road users. The magazine was unveiled by Mr. Otuba Ehi Gbadamosi, Prince Obanor Victor, and Barrister Olayiwola Afolabi, ESQ.

Some of the dignitaries present at the event include; Engineer Victor Obanor, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Electricity; Mr. Toju Onaiwu, Permanent Secretary of EDSOPADEC; Barrister Irene Omorogiuwa, Permanent Secretary of the Edo State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Tourism; Honourable Osobase Okpamen; Barrister Olayiwola Afolabi ESQ.; Mr. Ayanbueze Ighodaro; and Mrs. Ama Iyamu, Legal Advisor to EDSTMA
