Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has launched the Emblem of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2024 and pledged ten million naira to support the cause. Representing the governor, Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, expressed gratitude and solidarity to the Nigerian Legion and members of the armed forces.
Ikhilor emphasized that the emblem launch is not just a tradition, but a symbol of collective resolve to remember the sacrifices of gallant men and women who paid the ultimate price for the nation’s peace and security. He also urged citizens to honor veterans who have continued to inspire others with their dedication and resilience.
The Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Aiyegbeni Balogun, noted that the occasion offers a unique opportunity to reflect on the selfless service and unwavering dedication of armed forces personnel.
Similarly, Chairman, Nigeria Legion, Edo State, A.C.G. Ignatius Enabulele, emphasized the importance of appreciating the sacrifices of fallen heroes and veterans. He also called for peaceful coexistence, celebrating diversity, and seeing differences as a source of strength.
The high point of the occasion was the decoration of His Excellency and distinguished guests with the Emblem.
The event was attended by wives of Fallen Heroes, Corps Members, Ex-Service Men, and Staff.
