The royal fathers of Enwan and Akuku communities have paid a courtesy visit to the Akoko-Edo Liaison officer, Hon Jeffrey Obasanmi, to fashion out ways of ending the recent demarcation issues arising from boundary adjustment in the area.
Speaking with the liaison officer in his office at Igarra, the Odafe of Enwan, Oba Peter Okarah disclosed that a committee was earlier set up by both communities to mount beacons as demarcation between them.
According to him, “Let me first and foremost appreciate God for the peace that has existed between us lately especially having signed a peace pact to coexist together as a people.
“The beacons separating us are not conspicuous hence we are here to seek the local government’s intervention for a holistic and permanent solution”.
The revered king solicited for proper demarcation in line with the committee’s resolution to forestall renewed crises.
On his part, the Akuku village head, High Chief Stephen Iyogun called for increase in sizes of beacons, stressing that boundary adjustments are not usually done in straight form but in curved manners.
He averred that consequences would be melted out to anyone found to be encroaching on the land after proper demarcation.
Speaking also, a member of Akuku community, Mr Akao Martins opined that the local government embarked on some intervention in the past which did not see the light of the day, noting that Enwan people had started building on the boundary and calling for compensations.
Responding, Obasanmi commended both communities for the relative peace adding, “Let me appreciate all for the peaceful coexistence. This no doubt, is premised on your resolve to champion a new dawn. May God bless your reigns.”
He told both parties that the Local Government, boundary adjustment committee and security agents would pay a scheduled visit to the location on Monday by 10.00 am prompt on an on the spot assessment with the hope of proffering lasting solution to the matter.
