The newly appointed Managing Director of the Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO), Ease of Doing Business Secretariat, Mr. Amen Odigie, today paid a courtesy visit to his counterpart at the Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS), Dr. Tony Ikpasaja, at the EDOGIS headquarters in Benin City, the state capital.
During the visit, Mr. Odigie highlighted the crucial roles of both agencies in fostering economic growth and prosperity within Edo State. He emphasized the significance of streamlined land administration and efficient Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) issuance as critical pillars for attracting both domestic and foreign investment, particularly in key sectors such as real estate, agriculture, and manufacturing.
According to him, “EDOGIS and ESIPO are vital government agencies that must collaborate closely. Our combined efforts are essential for creating a truly conducive business environment in Edo State. I recognize EDOGIS as a crucial partner for ESIPO in achieving our mandate of attracting and facilitating investments.”
“Our strategic plan for the year 2025 aims to attract significant investments, many of which require land for their operations within the state. This underscores the absolute necessity of our close collaboration. I congratulate you on your appointment and wish you the very best as we work together to improve the investment climate and overall economic prosperity of Edo State.” Mr. Odigie noted.
Dr. Tony Ikpasaja, the Managing Director of EDOGIS, warmly welcomed Mr. Odigie and his team, reiterating the paramount importance of inter-agency cooperation for the state’s development. “We must work together diligently to enhance the investment climate in Edo State and improve the quality of life for our people. By streamlining processes and ensuring efficient service delivery, we can unlock the full potential of our state’s economic resources.” Dr. Ikpasaja emphasized.
The EDOGIS MD also acknowledged the significant challenge of land grabbing and emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to address this issue effectively. “Land grabbing not only hinders development but also threatens the peace and harmony of our communities. Joint efforts are crucial to curb this menace and ensure secure and equitable access to land for all.” He said.
The courtesy visit signifies a strong commitment from both agencies to work in tandem to streamline processes, improve service delivery, and ultimately attract more investment to Edo State, thereby driving economic growth and creating sustainable prosperity for its citizens.
