The Edo State Transport Authority (ESTA) led by its Managing Director (MD), Hon. Henshew Oligbi, has reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to improving transportation services in the State through strengthened collaboration with the Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDSTMA) and the Edo City Transport Service (ECTS).

Hon. Oligbi gave the assurance during an official visit to both parastatals to assess their progress, key challenges, and to reinforce sustainable partnerships that would enhance effective and efficient service delivery in line with the vision of the State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo.

At EDSTMA, Hon. Oligbi underscored the need for continuous cooperation on improving traffic management and ensuring road safety across the State, saying, “We are here to understand the progress made so far; where you currently stand, and the direction you intend to go under this administration. We also seek to renew the longstanding relationship between the Transport Authority and EDSTMA.”

Hon. Oligbi highlighted Sen. Okpebholo’s commitments to road safety and infrastructure development. He stressed the need for a well-structured, efficiently managed transportation system to drive economic revitalisation in the State. In his words, “We have all seen the commitment of this administration towards road infrastructure. The Governor is working tirelessly to ensure rapid development and enhancement of transportation infrastructure. Therefore, those of us responsible for ensuring road safety must be proactive in discharging our duties.

The MD of ESTA sued for a review of traffic regulations, advocating for enforcement strategies that balance firmness with empathy. Acknowledging EDSTMA’s impact on traffic management, he urged the Agency to maintain its high standards under the leadership of Barr. (Engr.) Stainless Mike Ijiogbe Ijiegede.

“Our laws must be reviewed, and we should approach enforcement with a human face where necessary. EDSTMA has made a significant impact on traffic management in Edo State, and we must ensure that the progress achieved since the Agency’s creation does not decline under this administration. I have full confidence in the leadership of Barr. (Engr.) Stainless Mike Ijiogbe Ijiegede and trust that EDSTMA will continue to perform effectively.”

Hon. Oligbi encouraged EDSTMA officers to exercise discretion and empathy in enforcing traffic regulations, while calling for continuous engagement between ESTA and EDSTMA to enhance efficient service delivery in traffic management.

Barr. Ijiegede while appreciating the MD of ESTA, reaffirmed EDSTMA’s commitment to efficient traffic management, strict enforcement of road regulations, and improved road safety. He assured Hon. Oligbi of EDSTMA’s readiness to collaborate closely with ESTA to achieve a well-regulated transport system in Edo State.

At ECTS, Hon. Oligbi restated ESTA’s dedication to working closely with the Transport Service in ensuring continuous improvements in public transportation. He emphasised that ESTA’s mission is to actualise the vision of the Sen. Okpebholo-led administration of alleviating the burden on commuters by providing efficient, reliable, and affordable transport services for residents in the State.

To ensure smooth operations and effective decision-making, he directed the ECTS Management Team to submit weekly reports to ESTA. He explained that the reports would enable ESTA to monitor progress, identify challenges, and make timely recommendations to Governor Okpebholo for swift interventions.

The Operations Manager of ECTS, Barr. Festus Ehiemua while commendeding Hon. Oligbi’s proactive leadership, highlighted the achievements and progress of ECTS. He also appealed for ESTA’s support in communicating the challenges of the Transport Service to the State Government for prompt resolution. He assured that ECTS is fully committed to delivering quality services to the people of Edo State and beyond.

The visit underscored the shared vision of ESTA, EDSTMA, and ECTS in driving Edo State’s transportation sector forward through strategic collaboration, innovative traffic solutions, and efficient road management. With the renewed synergy, residents and road users can expect smoother traffic flow, reduced congestion, and an improved transport system that aligns with the State Government’s broader development agenda.
