Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has lauded Bishop Oriname Oyonnude Kure, at a thanksgiving service in celebration of the Bishop’s birthday anniversary and successful completion of tenure as Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Edo State Chapter, held at the the Evidence of the Gospel Church in Benin City, on Sunday May 14th, 2023.
Governor Obaseki described Bishop Kure as the representative of the Christian body that has partnered with the government for the last six and a half years, to ensure that God’s purpose is served in Edo state.
Appreciating the Bishop for his services to God, Edo State and humanity, Obaseki said: “Bishop Kure, I am here to say, on behalf of the government and people of Edo State, thank you.”
In honour of the CAN Chairman, the Governor promised to establish a Christian musical talent competition, which he tagged, “the Bishop Kure’s Prize for Musical Talents in the Church”, where young singers within the Christian faith would be given the opportunity to showcase their talents, and be rewarded.
Stating the purpose of the competition, Obaseki said: “The whole idea is for us to strengthen the connection between our young people, the church, and our creative abilities. The creative industry is becoming so large and so prosperous. The church has to be part of it, and Edo has to lead in that front”.
In the same vein, the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, commended the celebrant, Bishop Kure, for his meritorious service as the Chairman of CAN, Edo State Chapter, for the past 8 years.
In her remarks, the first lady said: “I express deep gratitude and appreciation to Bishop Kure for rising up as a father indeed of the Christian body in Edo State during his 8 years in office, and for accomplishing God’s purpose for his life for that period.”
