The Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, has sworn in Mrs. Joy Irenose Ihensekhien as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues.
During the swearing-in ceremony which held at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, the Governor congratulated Mrs. Ihensekhien on her appointment. He charged her to bring her expertise to bear in driving the Ministry’s mandate of reducing issues of social vices to its barest minimum and bringing succor to victims of such circumstances among residents in the State.
Mrs. Ihensekhien, in her response, thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve and promised to work tirelessly in promoting social development and gender equality in the State.
The ceremony was attended by key officials of the State Government, including the Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Dennis O. Idahosa; the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Umar Musa Ikhilor; family members, well-wishers of the appointee, amongst others.
Until her appointment, Mrs. Ihensekhien served as the Director of the Department of Gender Issues in the Ministry. With her wealth of experience and expertise in gender issues and social development, she is expected to harness such resources in driving the Ministry’s mandate for the benefit of residents in Edo State.
