Governor Okpebholo: An epitome of Practical Governance

By Aichienede Akhabue Goodluck

As Abraham Lincoln once said, “Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”

Democracy therefore engenders accountability whereby the people hold their leaders accountable to their stewardship.

However, in recent years, many elected officials have neglected their duty to ensure that State resources are utilized efficiently, leading to project failures, abandonment and subpar execution.

In Edo State, this trend was evident in some road projects before Governor Monday Okpebholo took office. Residents had grown frustrated with the poor execution of these projects, which often deteriorated within months of completion.

However, with Governor Okpebholo’s arrival, the narrative has changed. During his swearing-in on November 12, 2024, he pledged to work tirelessly for the betterment of Edo people with commitment to his policy thrust. True to his word, he has visited numerous road project sites within his first 100 days in office, demonstrating his commitment to practical governance.

Governor Okpebholo’s hands-on approach has already begun to yield positive results. By personally overseeing these projects, he aims at ensuring the highest standards, timely completion and full compliance with the needs of residents of the State.

His leadership style has not only enhanced accountability but also fostered a sense of confidence among citizens. As Governor Okpebholo continues to prioritize the needs of Edo people, it is clear that his administration will usher in a new era of progress and development.

With his pragmatic approach, Governor Okpebholo is poised to leave a lasting legacy in Edo State. As he continues to work tirelessly for the betterment of his people, one thing is certain; Edo’s future looks brighter than ever.

As his administration continues to progress, one can infer without jumping into hasty conclusion, that given the pragmatic leadership style demonstrated by Governor Okpebholo in less than 100 days in office, Edo people should be rest assured of better days ahead.
