The Edo State Health Insurance Commission has engaged 24 public and private healthcare facilities for subscribers to its health insurance scheme to access quality and affordable healthcare service across three local government areas of the state.

In a chat with journalists, Director General, Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Rock Amegor, said the commission engaged 24 public and private healthcare facilities in Ikpoba-Okha, Oredo and Egor Local Government Areas of the state.

He said the healthcare facilities are fully equipped to provide quality healthcare services to enrollees that have been assigned under them, adding that the commission has commenced payment of capitation to the accredited facilities in order for them to begin service delivery.

According to him, the commission has collaborated with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to accredit Primary Healthcare Centres across the 18 LGAs, noting that 147 PHCs have so far been accredited to provide quality healthcare services to vulnerable persons in the state.

Amegor noted that the commission is carrying out assessment of healthcare facilities enrollees under the Scheme, adding that there are 29,800 principals and dependents in the formal sector, while 9,950 vulnerable persons are captured under the Equity Plan to access quality healthcare.
