The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has described the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, as an enigma who was unstoppable in the pursuit of his life’s achievement.
Obaseki, who led other top government officials on a birthday visit to the Esama, said the history of the state and nation cannot be written without mentioning Sir Igbinedion’s contributions.
Others that accompanied the governor on the visit are the governor’s Chief of Staff, Osaigbovo Iyoha and Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osgie, among others.
Celebrating Chief Igbinedion for attaining the age of 88 years, Obaseki said, “We thank God for daddy’s life. He is an enigma; he is unstoppable. Whether you like him or not, he has redefined what Edo and Benin is. You can’t write the history of Edo State, Benin City and Nigeria without mentioning Chief Gabriel Igbinedion.
“We thank God for his life. This is a privilege to have him with us at this time and age with his full faculty intact. On behalf of the Government of Edo State, we wish him a very happy return on his birthday. We pray for good health and sound mind like he is now and continue to offer us his fatherly advice and words of wisdom.”
