Maiden Edo Education Week Kicks off with Book and Arts Festival on Wednesday 

The event will recognise and award outstanding teachers, and there will be a gala night. There will be school visitations and a parent's summit where a panel will discuss values-based education. There will also be a sports competition - “Governor’s cup” and an EduCHEF competition

The Edo State Government through the Ministry of Education is set to flag off the maiden edition of the Education Week.
Scheduled to take place from the 26th – 30th of April, 2023, the week-long event promises to be an exciting and informative opportunity for stakeholders in the education sector. Here is a summary of events to expect during the Education Week.
Kicking off the week’s activities will be the opening of the first Edo International Book and Arts Festival. This will feature knowledgeable speakers and experts on different topics, including what is EdoBEST Memory, academic showcase with debates, spoken words, and quizzes.
There will also be a plenary session where stakeholders in the education sector will have the opportunity to interact with Governor Godwin Obaseki and students, technical sessions on learning and a panel discussion on learning for skills. The FCDO Girls’ Education program will also be launched during the week, and there will be an Education Consultative Group to brainstorm, set the benchmark for an agenda of learning in Edo State.

Additionally, the sex offender register will be launched, and the Parents’ Council will be introduced.
Finally, the Education Week will close with an interdenominational Thanksgiving service to celebrate the success of education reforms in Edo State over the last six years.
This Education Week is a unique event that promises to bring all stakeholders in the education sector in Edo State together to learn, strategise, and celebrate the progress made so far while setting the benchmark for future development.

Apart from the Sports competition, which will take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, and the Education awards and gala, which will be held at the New Festival hall, Government house, the Education week will take place at the Victor Uwaifo Creative hub, Airport road, Benin City.
