Edo is keeping up with its tradition of remarkable achievements that give the State National and global recognition. Edo State emerged Best in Digital Marketing Arts at the just concluded National Festival of Arts and Culture.

The 35th National Festival of Arts and Culture ( Eko NAFEST 2022) which was hosted by the Lagos State Government was themed “culture and peaceful co-existence” and gave Edo a unique opportunity to showcase its rich cultural heritage.

Edo was represented at the festival by the Edo State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Prince Bamidele Obaitan, in the company of the Permanent Secretary, Barr. Iryn Omorogiuwa, some other officials of the Ministry as well as some contingents from the three senatorial districts of the State. Edo’s cultural display was performed gracefully to the admiration of the audience.

The National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST) is a yearly event that sub-national governments host on a rotational basis. It creates the avenue for the states to showcase diverse cultural heritage, talents, and develop the spirit of national identity, and promote peaceful co-existence.

Edo is known to take pride in its rich history, culture, and tradition which highlights its unique identity. Since the advent of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration, more emphasis has been placed on projecting the culture and rich heritage of Edo State on the global stage. The Government is quite passionate about preserving and showcasing Edo’s rich cultural heritage.

There is no gainsaying that Governor Obaseki has continually created an avenue for the Arts, Culture, and Tourism sector of the State to thrive. As part of his commitment to promoting the rich culture of the people, it could be recalled that Edo State hosted the National Festival of Arts and Culture in Benin City in 2019.

Over the years, NAFEST has become a major event that has placed both Edo and the Country on the global stage, and this has also enabled other nations of the world to appreciate the diversity and uniqueness of the culture and heritage of the people.
