Obaseki, Abiodun extol virtues of late Major Babalola

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has described late retired Major Grace Adebisi Babalola as a patriot, who impacted society through selfless service.

Governor Obaseki made the remark at the funeral service in honour of late Major Babalola, at the Ijebu-Ode Anglican Diocese Cathedral Church of our Saviour, Ita-Olowajoda, Ijasi Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Other dignitaries at the event include Ogun State Governor, Mr. Dapo Abiodun and wife of Edo State Governor, Dr. Betsy Obaseki, among other dignitaries.

Late Princess Major Grace Adebisi Babalola (Rtd.), who served in the Nigerian Army meritoriously, headed the Nursing units until her retirement.

Speaking to journalists, Obaseki said, “She was a patriot that served the country well. She raised an amazing family. See how well her children are doing and see the type of people coming to honour her. It tells you how she lived. Youths should learn from her life of service to humanity.”

Governor Abiodun said late retired Major Babalola lived a life of service, caring for the less privileged in the society.

“Princess retired Major Grace Adebisi Babalola is a Princess of Awujale Dynasty in Ijebu-Ode. She is a certified theatre nurse who lived a life of service and was also a philanthropist. Mama lived a life of impact. I urge the congregation to emulate her life. She was a bridge builder and love giver.”

Ministering, the Diocesan Bishop of Ijebu land, Rt. Rev’d Dr. Peter Rotimi Oludipe, who read from scripture, 2 Cor. 5:10 on the topic, “Appearing before the judgement seat of Chris,” called on the congregation to live a life that will please the Lord just like Mama Babalola lived for many years.

He noted that life is a gift from God and a preparatory ground for eternity, urging the congregation to live right and well with neighbors and God and be a blessing to others.
