  5. Obaseki Assures Investors Of Industry-ready Manpower For Business Growth At Dubai Investment Meeting

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has assured business leaders at the annual investment meeting (AIM) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, that his administration has industry-ready youths  that can compete with their peers in other parts of the world in the world of work.

Obaseki who gave the assurance during his presentation at the investment meeting, showcased the series of ICT trainings initiated by his administration that have birthed a huge community of tech experts in Edo, with the right skill set to exponentially grow any enterprise.

The huge investment in manpower development and the Edo Tech Park by the Edo State Government are in line with a recent World Bank Report’s proposition that Sub-Saharan Africa “has an opportunity to forge a different path from the rest of the world – if digital technologies are harnessed correctly by governments and businesses by ensuring that critical policies and investments are in place.”

The Governor who wooed investors with the emerging investment opportunities in the state, showcased the potential of the Edo Technology Park which is a live, work, play project that spans over 200,000 square meters in Benin City as well as other incentives.

He told the visibly excited audience, seeking business-friendly domains, that the technology park was conceived by his administration to provide state-of-the-art infrastructure to boost business and talent productivity for technological innovation, and ultimately support the growth of Africa’s tech ecosystem.

With innovation hubs, data centers, co-working and office spaces amongst other features, the tech park has residential and commercial real estate, tech incubators and offices for rent to support seamless collaboration and partnerships between technology, talent, business and investors.

Obaseki is among members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) participating in the annual summit and seeking foreign direct investments from businesses and organizations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Also at the event are the Governors of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Cross River, Ekiti, Enugu, Kwara, Niger, Ondo, Plateau, Sokoto and Yobe states.

The Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) is an initiative of the UAE Ministry of Economy conceived to provide a framework for global exchange on the key principles underpinning international investment policies, strategies and practices for sustainable development to achieve smart and inclusive global growth, the organizers said.
