Obaseki boosts drug supply in healthcare centres, sets up drug-revolving funds c’ttee

The Edo State Government has inaugurated the Drug Revolving Fund Committee to improve the supply of drugs and address drug shortages in Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state.

Addressing journalists after inaugurating the committee, Edo State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Obehi Akoria, said the move will assist the government to achieve sustainable drug supply for PHCs in the state.

She noted that the setting up of the committee is in line with the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration’s efforts to strengthen the health system and enhance access to efficient, quality and affordable healthcare.

The Commissioner disclosed that the inauguration of the committee for the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency falls within the ambit of medical products and technologies and will guarantee a more resilient healthcare system in the state.

Prof. Akoria said the mandate of the committee is to ensure the sustainable supply of medicines and related commodities that meet the healthcare needs of all citizens in PHCs, served through efficient, transparent, accountable and equitable systems.

She further expressed her appreciation to Governor Obaseki for approving the setting up of the committee.

Chairman, Edo State Drug Revolving Fund Committee, Dr. Otaniyenuwa Obarisiagbon lauded the initiative, pledging to work with other members of the team to deliver on their mandate and ensure quality-assured health supplies are consistently available to patients in PHCs.
