The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has condoled with General Charles Airhiavbere (Rtd.) over the death of his mother, late Madam Mary Orhue Uzamere, who died at the age of 85.
The governor, who was accompanied on the visit by a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ehigie Uzamere and top government officials, said late Madam Orhue Uzamere was a mother to all.
According to him, “I am here today to commiserate with my brother, Gen. Airhiavbere (Rtd.) over the loss of his illustrious mother, who was a mother to all of us. We are here to celebrate her life and what she stood and lived for. She was a courageous and loving mother.
“I am feeling emotional over the discussion I had with her son, Gen. Airhiavbere, who shared with me the last text message his mother sent to him about me. In Benin, we are one big family. Beyond politics and before politics, we are one big family.”
In his reaction, Gen. Airhiavbere, expressed appreciation to the governor for showing solidarity with the Airhiavbere family beyond politics, adding, “This is a big surprise. The governor is a man with a large heart.”
