Obaseki Harps on Sustainability of Ongoing Development, Reforms, Takes Campaign to Uhumwonde, Orhionmwon

...calls on citizens to vote en masse for PDP, says federal might is futile against God’s Might

Governor Godwin Obaseki has urged citizens and residents of Uhumwonde and Orhionmwon Local Government areas of Edo State to cast their votes en masse for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Barr. Osarodion Ogie, in the forthcoming Governorship election in the state, slated for September 21, 2024, expressing confidence in the PDP flagbearer to sustain ongoing development and reforms in the state.

The Governor made this known during the campaign rally at Uhumwonde and Orhionmwon councils, held on Monday September 2, 2024.

According to Obaseki, “For every development, you need someone who will continue from where you stopped. Can an incompetent person sustain the development? No. From what you witnessed on the other side of Orhiomwon Local Government area, on the laudable investment my administration has attracted, were you not thrilled?

“I have attracted numerous investors to the region. I brought Saro Africa, I brought Flour Mill, etcetera; a place that was bushy before, as I speak now, they are currently cultivating oil palm; the nursery has been completed.

“When you have a Palm tree, 25 years after, the palm tree will still be producing. We have done two years, but if you people vote in incompetent leaders, they will chase away these investors; they will extort money from them until they drive them out of the state. And the result is that; there will be no food, there will be no Jobs”.

Obaseki added: “That is why I am here to plead with you. Everybody must come out to vote, because if we don’t continue what we have started, the outcome will not be good”.

Obaseki who expressed confidence in the competence and capacity of the PDP candidate, noted that he was optimistic that the incoming administration under the leadership of Ighodalo, if voted into office, will exceed the transformation and developmental strides by his administration in the last 8 years.

Obaseki said: “When we began to help the administration of Adams Oshiomhole, the first person I called to join in transforming Edo was Asue Ighodalo. Asuerinme is my brother, because we do things alike. He is more intelligent than me. When he came, while others were demanding money before they could render services, he never demanded a dime. He said he has come to serve his people and not to look for money.

“Asuerinme has built one of the largest law firms in Nigeria. He is not one of those looking for money. His love for the People of Edo State was what prompted him to leave the investment world to run for governorship.”

Obaseki appreciated residents of the LGAs for their immense support for his administration, stating that he has found someone who can deliver more than he did in the last 8 years.

“This morning, I want to thank you people for all you have done for me as your Governor and your immense support for my administration. My tenure is over as a Governor, but I haven’t finished the work I came for. I have found someone whom I believe can deliver even more than I have done in the last 8 years. I know we will win.”

Obaseki added: “They said they will use federal might, and you know we only have one Might, which is God’s Might. And when God has supported us, no federal might can do anything.”

In his remarks, the Governorship candidate of the PDP, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, commended the developmental strides of the Obaseki administration in the last 8 years, while assuring Edo citizens and residents of sustainability and better governance, if elected as Governor come September 21, 2024.
