Obaseki, PDP Nat’l chair, Ayu to commission Edo College of Nursing, Benin Central Park, others

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, will be joined by the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to commission the Edo State College of Nursing Sciences and two other projects.

Ayu, who is expected to be welcomed by over 500,000 PDP members and leaders from the three senatorial districts of the state, is on a one-day official visit to Edo State.

The PDP National Chairman as part of the visit is expected to commission the Edo State College of Nursing Sciences, the Benin Central Park and a pedestrian jetty with waiting lounge, an ultra-modern marine police base, as well as armoured guns and speed boats.

The newly revamped Edo College of Nursing used to be the Edo State School of Nursing and Midwifery, which was an eyesore when the governor took office.

The revamp process has seen the rebuilding of the school and its restructuring into a college specializing in nursing sciences. New lecture halls have been erected; offices have been remodeled; laboratories have been fitted with state-of-the-art equipment and a new management structure has taken foot.

The Benin Central Park, at the Obakhavbaye axis of Ring Road, is the brainchild of the Obaseki-led administration to bring a new lease of life to the city’s transport scene, providing bespoke transport experience to travelers commuting to and from Benin City.

The park has now been completed with ultra-modern facilities to ensure an efficient city commute service.

The armoured gun and speedboats; the jetty with waiting lounge and walkway for the physically challenged, and the marine police base is part of efforts by the Governor Obaseki-led state government to secure the waterways and curb criminal activities along the state’s coastal areas.
