Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has sworn in Mr. Joseph Eboigbe, as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
This is coming in the wake of the resignation of the former SSG, Osarodion Ogie Esq., who in line with extant laws, resigned his position to run for Deputy Governorship in the forth-coming gubernatorial election.
Describing the new SSG as diligent and passionate in delivering quality and excellence in his assignments, Obaseki charged him to apply his expertise in assisting the current administration to finish strong.
Obaseki gave the charge during his swearing-in, at the Executive Council (ExCo) meeting, held on Monday August 12, 2024, at the State Government House, in Benin City.
According to the Governor, “I want to congratulate our newly appointed Secretary to the Government of Edo State, Mr. Joseph Eboigbe, and to say that he is an old man, who has been part of this administration before this administration came into office, and he was a two-time Commissioner in this administration.
“Currently, he is Chairman of the Transition Committee. So, I couldn’t find a better fit than Mr. Eboigbe. But then, we believe you can help us finish strong. We know who you are; we know that you are very astute and professional. We know that he is very diligent and very detailed”.
Obaseki added: “I have no doubt in my mind that he knows what to do and he is going to help us in finishing strong, and ensuring that we have a good transition and succession to the next administration. Once again, I want to congratulate you and thank you for accepting this again”.
In his remarks, the newly sworn-in SSG, Mr. Joseph Eboigbe, thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to delivering excellence, and ensuring the good works by the current administration comes to a successful completion.
Eboigbe said: “Your Excellency sir, may I use this opportunity to thank you and by extension, the cabinet of Edo State Government for reposing confidence in me. This itself is a very huge assignment, especially in the last few months to the round-off of this administration.
“I am committed to excellence sir, and I promise I will discharge my responsibility to my utmost ability, and also to exceed the expectations that are set for me, and above all sir, to the glory of God”.
The new Secretary to Edo State Government, Mr. Joseph Eboigbe, until now, served as Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Economic Planning, two-time Commissioner for Finance, and currently serves as the Chairman of the State Transition Committee.
