Obaseki tips NIPOST on publicity, image promotion

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has called on the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) to sensitise the public on their services especially with the prevalent use of e-mails as he met with new Area Postal Manager of NIPOST, Edo Territory, Mrs Oluwatoyin Egbesola on a courtesy call at the Edo State Government House in Benin City the Edo State Capital.

The governor further noted that he would speak with the Solicitor General of the state to find out the state’s stance on stamp duty adding that the ban on motorcycles in some part of the state did not affect such institutions as NIPOST, urging them to go to the ministry of transportation and get permit.

He, however, frowned at the use of their premises at Akpakpava and Airport Roads as business places as the offices are overrun by traders, who have turned them into markets, even as he called on NIPOST to improve on the environmental standards around their offices.

Meanwhile, Egbesola thanked the governor for providing them with an agreeable environment to operate in the state.

On revenue generation, she noted that Edo is next to Lagos State and that Edo State is important in terms of Express Mail Service (EMS) and Parcel Services in the country.

Egbesola, revealed that the service had been experiencing challenges on effective delivery of services to customers because of the ban on motorcycles in the state, adding that wrong numbering of the house address compounded the problem.
