As part of commitments towards infrastructural development in Edo State, the Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo has flagged off the rehabilitation of failed sections of Auchi-Igarra-Aiyetoro-Unemu-Nekhua-Aiyegunle-IkpeshiIbillo-Ekor-Ikiran-Oke with length of intervention totaling 9.61km.

During the flag-off ceremony, Sen. Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s commitments to building durable roads to open up communities for economic activities that will in turn improve the lives of the people. He reiterated the President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s desire to deliver the dividends of good governance to the people of the State through the provision of quality healthcare, education, road infrastructure, security, amongst others.

In his words, “Today, we are flagging off these roads to ensure we have good highways in Edo North, Central and South senatorial districts. I was with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Abuja last week and he asked me to ensure that potholes on roads across the State, either Federal or State are rehabilitated”. He assured that the repair of the failed sections of the road will put an end to incessant criminal activities in the area, noting that government will continue to develop the State to improve the lives of the people.

“I assure you that the business of kidnapping will never thrive here. We must take a decisive action as these criminals must leave our forest. I assure you that in the next few days, they will be out from our forest. I will relocate to Edo North if that is what it will cost me to flush out criminal element from the area as I will not leave this to security agencies alone,” the Governor assured.

The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku assured that the Legislative Arm of the State will continue to support the Governor for more developmental infrastructure in the State. He added that the projects when completed will drastically reduce criminal activities in the area.

The Functioning Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Works, Engr. Dr. John Obanor commended the State Governor for deeming it necessary to embark on the rehabilitation of failed sections of the road. He noted that the completion of the project will facilitate the movement of commuters, farm produce, mineral resources and also mitigate rampant kidnapping in the area. He stated that the scope of the project includes the removal of unsuitable materials, site clearance, installation of drainages at locations where necessary, installation of hardcore, Binder and wearing course.

The Governor also visited the Gully erosion site at Water Tanker Road in Auchi Ughiogwa, Ayogwiri-Uzaire in Etsako Local Government Area of the State.
