Receiving the award, Dr. Okungbowa further commended the Governor for appointing Dr. Ogbemudia as the DG of the Directorate, noting that such decisions reflect the Governor’s ability to recognize talent and prioritize merit within the Service.
“I must commend the Governor for identifying you, knowing the quality that you bring and what the Service stands to gain from your leadership. Mr. Governor knows how to get the best hands into the Service. In your case, it was fixing a square peg into a square hole”. He said.
The Head of Service expressed gratitude to Dr. Ogbemudia and her Team for the gesture, describing the recognition as a call to greater responsibility. He commended the DG for her dedication and competence, emphasizing the significant value she brings to the system.
”I would like to appreciate the DG and members of her Team for this unique honour they have given me today. For me, this is a call for support. I want to promise that by the grace of God, I will do my best to ensure that you get all the support required to make a tremendous success out of this work. I have known you for a long time and I have no doubt in my mind about the quality you bring. The Civil Service will benefit immensely from your leadership and I believe you will achieve phenomenal success”. The Head of Service asserted.
On her part, Dr. Ogbemudia expressed deep appreciation for the support and trust placed on her by the Edo State Government, attributing the ongoing transformation in the Civil and Public Service to the Governor’s visionary leadership. She stated that the decision to present the HOS an award was long overdue, as his contributions towards transforming the Service have not gone unnoticed.
“I truly appreciate our Governor for giving me the opportunity to serve. With the support of this Team, I am confident that the Directorate will witness a new era of innovation and impact. Today, I have the honour and privilege to recognize all that you have been doing and how far he has contributed his own quota to the development of the Service. The decorum we see in the Service today is credited to your pursuit of excellence. You are a man of quality and where there is quality, there can be no room for mediocrity. I look forward to your support as the DG of the Directorate of Education Quality and Accountability”. She concluded.
