Ongoing reforms’ll address maintenance of govt infrastructure-Obaseki

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has reassured that ongoing reforms in the state’s civil and public service will address the issue of maintenance of public infrastructure in the state.

The governor, who spoke to journalists in Benin City, said the government is pursuing a holistic transformation of the civil and public service to ensure effective service delivery to Edo people.

He said a new work culture is being instilled even as an agency has been set up to maintain new and existing public infrastructure in the state, including the newly Rebuilt Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

He maintained that through the recruitment of professionals into the state’s civil and public service, the government is building the right framework to sustain the many infrastructural achievements of his administration.

Obaseki, who noted that there are tremendous changes in Edo as regards how the government maintains its structures and institutions, added that “it has to do with the people, capacity building and making sure that you have the right processes and procedures.”

The governor said: “Through the new hiring and recruitment ongoing in the Edo State Public and Civil Service, we are going to put in place not only the right people but also the right systems and institutions to sustain what we are doing.

“I am assuring Edo people that these facilities will be kept well. They are owned by Edo people and therefore, we must have systems in place to ensure that they are maintained.”

“It will not only be the responsibility of the governor but the entire Edo people to ensure that these facilities are maintained. We will put in place the systems to ensure it is maintained,” he reassured.
