Edo State Government, through the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), has embarked on an inspection tour of some Primary Health Centres (PHCs) within Edo South Senatorial Districts as part of upgrade exercise of facilities.

The Director of Disease Control and Immunization, Dr. Gideon Iraoyah, who led the team on the upgrade exercise, said that the purpose of the visit to the selected PHCs was to notify Community Leaders, Ward Development Committee (WDC), and Village Development Committee (VDC), of the Agency’s mandate to begin an upgrade of selected facilities and appealed that host communities should take ownership of the facilities for sustainability.

During the community engagement, the Director of Community and Family Health, Dr. Idemudia Osayomore, emphasized that the upgrade exercise would include community enumeration and data collection exercise which would culminate in generating health cards for residents.

Primary Health Centres visited as prelude to upgrade take-off in Edo South Senatorial District include Oredo, Ugbor, Arougba, New Benin, Ikhuen, Eyaen. Others are Ogbeson, Ugbekun, Oluku, Idogbo, Evbotubu, and Ovbiogie.
