The Post-Master General of the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST), Dr. Adebayor Adewusi, has ranked Edo as one of the safest States in Nigeria.

Adewusi who led other senior officials of the Federal Government agency on a courtesy visit to the Acting Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, on Thursday June 30, 2022, commended the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration’s fight against insecurity in the State.

According to him, Edo State has become one of the safest and business-friendly environments in the country with the least security threats.

The Post-Master General said: “It would also be important that we congratulate you and His Excellency the Governor, for the very good job that you are doing in this Heart Beat State of the country.

“You have continued to provide transformational leadership. We have seen the kind of work you are doing in infrastructural development, in Education, Sports and so many other areas, I like to say and put it on record that Edo State today, is one of the safest in Nigeria and I don’t know how you have managed to do that, but whatever it is you have done, please keep it up sir”.

He expressed his agency’s gratitude to the Governor for his continuous support to NIPOST over the years, and described Obaseki as a man that keeps to his promises.

He recalled: “Last year, specifically, February, I visited the Governor, and I made some requests for our facility in Egor, that’s the Nigeria Postal Institute (NPI), and I was so shocked and of course pleasantly surprised that three months later by April, he had already mobilized workers to construct the road leading to our institute and by August last year, the road was already completed. I couldn’t just believe that we still have Governors in this country who are alive to their responsibilities and keep their words.”

He added: “It is one thing to make a promise and another thing to keep it, and please on this occasion, I will extend my personal appreciation and of course the appreciation of the Nigeria Postal Service to the Governor. We are very grateful we will continue to pray for his success as the head of Government in the State.”

.He informed the Acting Governor of a sports facility at the NIPOST  facility in Egor, which he said has the potential to transform the sporting talent of Edo youths.

The NIPOST boss however appealed to the State government to intervene in the issues the agency is having with some youths in communities hosting NIPOST offices.

Responding, the Acting Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu assured the NIPOST Executives of the State’s continuous support and partnership with the agency for sustainable development of the State.

“We will continue to cooperate and it is in our best interest to actually work together for the benefit of our people because that sector is one sector that, if not closely monitored, like you said, can be negatively used to destroy the peace and security of our State and nation,” Shaibu said.
