The Commissioner for Physical Planning, Urban and Regional Development, Sir (Dr.) Lucky Eseigbe, has called for cooperation and synergy among staff to advance the success of the SHINE Agenda of the Senator Monday Okpebholo-led administration.
Dr. Eseigbe made the call during his official assumption of duty at the Ministry, following the recent cabinet reshuffle approved by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Addressing the management team in his office, the Commissioner commended them for their dedication and for maintaining stability in the Ministry prior to his resumption. He described his appointment as an opportunity to make meaningful contributions to a vital component of the SHINE Agenda.
“This is the time for the Ministry to plan towards building a state that is not only beautiful but also safe and secure. We must remember that failing to plan is planning to fail”. He stated.
Dr. Eseigbe reaffirmed the Ministry’s renewed commitment to enforcing standards within the built environment.
“We must let the public know that the Ministry is ready to take its rightful place. We cannot continue to witness building collapses, illegal structures or the use of substandard materials. We must work together to elevate the SHINE Agenda to greater heights”. He said.
He further emphasized that the Ministry would no longer tolerate unauthorized developments, adding that strict enforcement of planning regulations will henceforth be the standard practice.
Pledging his full commitment to the administration’s vision, Dr. Eseigbe assured staff of his readiness to work collaboratively in achieving the objectives of the SHINE Agenda.
He also commended Governor Okpebholo for his transformative leadership.
“This is the first time we are seeing a Governor invest in infrastructure such as flyovers, disburse one billion naira in bursaries to students, and allocate another one billion naira to support market women. His developmental strides are evident in every nook and cranny of the State”. He noted.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Arc. Kate Isokpunwu assured the Commissioner of the staff’s commitment to work diligently under his leadership.
Also present to welcome the Commissioner was the Managing Director of the Edo State Development and Building Control Agency, Hon. Igabali Darlington Imoisili.
