The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu has underscored the need for synergy in effective service delivery.
Hon. Ohonbamu made this statement during a meeting with the management staff of the Information Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) at the Conference Hall in the Ministry’s premises in Benin-City.
The Commissioner noted that the Governor in his infinite wisdom decided to merge the ICTA with the Ministry of Information and Communications in order to have a more coordinated organization and to ensure the delivery of seamless services to Edo people.
He added that information technology is a critical tool in effective communication and as such the Ministry would leverage the ICTA technical know-how to better propagate the policies, programs and projects of the Government.
Hon. Ohonbamu assured the Management Staff of ICTA of a new dawn in the administration of services, pledging to harness the opportunities that abound in the ICT Eco system as well as working assiduously to curb the challenges of the management of the ICTA.
In his response, the Managing Director of ICTA, Mr. Eghosa Urhoghide, while thanking the Commissioner for his vision and plans for the ICT Ecosystem, asserted that the merger of ICTA with the Ministry would help to guarantee seamless approval for the demands of the ICTA Ecosystem.
He highlighted some challenges of the ICT Ecosystem, including difficulty in mobility, shortage of manpower, need for improved welfare packages for staff, and the need for speedy approval for procurement of tools and other facilities needed by the ICT Ecosystem.
In attendance at the event were, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr. Desmond Agbama, Directors of the Ministry as well as management staff of ICTA.
