Tribunal judgement well considered and delivered – Ojezua

The Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Party (APC) has praised the Justice Ahmed Badamasi-led Election Tribunal for what it described as a “verdict well considered and delivered”.
“The petitioners failed woefully in their feeble attempt to prove their case”, he said.
It would be recalled that the Tribunal, last Friday, upheld the declaration of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki as the rightful winner of the September 28, 2016 gubernatorial election in Edo State.
In a statement by the State Chairman the political party decried the petition filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and her candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
To substantiate their claims, they made several wild allegations pertaining to a substantial number of units in the wards. They fielded about 91 witnesses, most of whom turned out to be impostors, claiming to be PDP agents, but whose names were violently different from the list of agents they had submitted”.
He continued that the petition was misconceived, poorly designed, miserably executed and destined for failure.
The Party Chieftain, however, expressed gratitude to God, the people of the state, and the Tribunal, while also urging PDP to work towards developing the state.
He said: “I also take the opportunity to extend my hands of fellowship to my brothers in the PDP to join us in the arduous task of building a robust and self-sustaining local economy that will serve the interest and welfare of our people”.
On the PDP’s plan to appeal the tribunal judgement, Ojezua advised the party to reconsider that line of action to save the state “the needless torment and distraction” a protracted legal battle would cost.
