The Edo State Commissioner for Public Security and Safety, Hon. Omololu Ojehomon, has assured residents of the state government’s readiness to ensure maximum security during the Yuletide, and urged them to collaborate with the Ministry and security agencies with information sharing.
According to Ojehomon, the success story so far recorded in the area of security and public safety has been achieved through the collaboration of the people with the different security structures that have been set up in the State, especially at the grassroots.
The Commissioner, who said this during a chat with journalists in Benin City, reiterated the State Government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the three senatorial districts.
“Security is critical for stability, peace and long-term economic growth, and the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration has shown an uncommon and genuine commitment to combating crimes in the State. This is in a bid to make Edo State the most peaceful and investment-friendly State in the Country,” the Commissioner said.
She declared that the Ministry is prepared and equipped to monitor and act as liaison among security agencies and relevant government institutions at both the Federal and State levels, and assured that there would be improvement in community engagements, the structure of community security network within the States and the joint taskforce on security.
Hon. Ojehomon advised that all crimes and complaints should be reported through the Ministry’s 24-hour helpline, set up for swift responses to reports of security threats or suspicious activities.
She assured that all calls received would be given prompt action by appropriate security agents, assuring the public of anonymity.
