In a bid to strengthen ties and foster community development, the Wards’ Councilors from Etsako East Local Government Area (LGA) has paid a courtesy visit on the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Osilama Okuofu, in Benin City.
The meeting aimed to discuss specific needs of the various communities in the LGA and strategies to enhance areas of cooperation that would culminate in the development of the area.
Hon. Okuofu, welcoming the Councilors, assured them of his commitment to the LGA’s growth and development. He promised to consider their requests of priority projects, including agricultural reforms and development, education, provision of electricity transformers to power transmission to homes and businesses in the area.
The Commissioner pledged his commitment to the LGA, where he hails from and stated that his dream is in consonant with the leadership vision of Governor Godwin Obaseki, who is committed to the welfare of the residents as expressed through institutional reforms in the area of public service delivery in the State. He cited the relief packages being implemented by the State Government, which is aimed at bringing succor to Edo people in the face of harsh economic realities across the Country as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
Hon. Okuofo enjoined the councilors to bring their credibility and initiatives to bear at the grassroot. According to him, the meeting paves the way for potential collaborations on projects and initiatives, which will benefit the LGA and ensure that communities’ needs are addressed accordingly.
