Academic Activities and acquisitions of vocational skills by students of Edo State Polytechnic,USEN Ovia South West Local Government Area,has received a boost following the unveiling of the institute of maritime silk road by the secretary of party committee, Fuzhou Polytechnic China Wang Jiansheng. This was the climax of a two day official visit of the Academic team from Fuzhou Polytechnic,China to Edo State to strengthen the MOU signed by Edo State Polytechnic USEN and Fuzhou Polytechnic China to promote Technical Education.
President of Fuzhou Polytechnic China,at the unveiling ceremony, said the Tripartite agreement between Fuzhou Polytechnic China,Yongxing steel company and Edo State Polytechnic USEN marks a significant milestone for students of Edo State Polytechnic to acquire vocational training from Fuzhou Polytechnic China. It will also develop training programme in different skills,promote scientific research collaboration and enhance Chinese language training of students of Edo State Polytechnic.
Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki reiterated his Administration commitment to repositioned the state owned Polytechnic to train students that will be technically efficient and effective in promoting self sufficiency after graduation without depending on Government for white collar jobs.
Governor Obaseki represented by the commissioner of Education Dr Joan Osa Oviawe appreciated Fuzhou Polytechnic China for awarding scholarship to five students of Edo State Polytechnic to proceed to China for the acquisition of vocational skills which will indeed strengthen bilateral relationship between Nigeria and the Chinese Government.
Rector,Edo State Polytechnic USEN,Engineer Sylvester Omoruyi lauded the proactive approach of Governor Obaseki to revamping Technical Education and series of infrastructural projects executed by his Administration to advance physical transformation of the institution.
The signing of memorandum of understanding between Fuzhou Polytechnic China and Edo State Polytechnic USEN, according to the Rector, resonates the burning desire in resetting Edo State Polytechnic as the centre of Academic and Technical skills incubator already yielding positive results.
The Chinese delegation had earlier visited the palace of the Olu_Awure of USEN,HRH Oba Olu_Ogbe11 to receive royal blessings.
Education commissioner Dr Joan Osa Oviawe attributed the peace and tranquility prevailing in USEN host community of Edo State Polytechnic,to the fatherly role of the Olu_Awure and sued for its sustenance.
The visibly elated royal father praised the transformation drive of the Godwin Obaseki led Administration which has made significant impact in all sectors of the state Economy and offered prayers for peace and tranquility in Edo State.
