The Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Zubairu Dada Abubakar has charged youths to be worthy ambassadors of the State, advocating against social vices such as drug abuse, cybercrime, cultism amongst others.

Hon. Abubakar gave the charge during a courtesy visit by the representatives of the Nigeria Medical Students Association led by its Secretary General, Olaye Fortune, the President of the National Association of Political Science Students, University of Benin Chapter, Comr. Nicholas Imosili, and the President of the National Association of Nigeria Student Nurses and Midwives (UBTH Chapter), Comr. Aloamaka Olisemedua Francis.

The Commissioner advised representatives of the students’ associations to channel their youthful energies to productive ventures and to deliberately display discipline in their educational pursuits, adding that they rightly balance work and play.

He encouraged them to synergize with other relevant stakeholders of Government in order to achieve success in their forth coming annual programmes and to keep up with the high spirit of vibrance.

The representatives of the students’ associations disclosed that the purpose of their visit was to familiarize themselves with the Ministry in order to sought for collaboration, partnership and mentorship. They also outlined their annual programmes and activities for the year 2024.

Similarly, Hon. Abubakar while addressing the Ohanaeze Youth, said as partners in progress the first step for official recognition of any Organisation is to be registered, renew registration as at when due and contribute its quota to the development of the State by paying taxes promptly.

Hon. Abubakar said that the Governor is very keen about the wellbeing of residents in the State. He counselled traders among them to assist in making sure that the City is clean and green by cleaning their surroundings as well as business places always.

Earlier, the Edo State Chapter of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, led by its Chairman, Ezeji Fedelis Nzenwe Ogu, applauded the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for his developmental strides, human capital development and reforms in the State.

Ogu and his Team said the Igbo people living in Edo State have seen and witnessed the good works of the Governor in the State and are in support of the quality leadership, stating their determination to contribute to the progress.

High point of the meeting was the presentation of invitations to the Honourable Commissioner by the representatives of the students’ associations.
